When God Goes to Starbucks:A Guide to Christian Apologetics

Apologetics is the current Seminary Gear class.

This class teaches you how to clearly discuss your Christian faith with those that don't share your worldview. You will learn to understand and articulate some basic defenses for the Christian faith.

It is taught by Dr. David Lema, of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS).

    Seminary Gear - Biblical Ministry Certificate (BMC)

    Current Class: Apologetics

    This twelve month certificate program—offered in eight, five week courses—is accredited through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). This will be a recurring program, so students may join at the beginning of any of the courses.

    Taught by seminary professor Dr. David Lema, these engaging classes are ideal for anyone who is serious about deepening their knowledge of the Bible, or considering entering the ministry. The purpose of the Biblical Ministry Certificate is to provide leaders of the local church a biblical basis for ministry and to provide tools for properly interpreting Scripture in that context.

    It is offered at the Cooper City Campus. Registration cost is $25 for the entire 18-month certificate program. Cost for each five week course (seminary credit course) is $90, part payable to the seminary and part payable to FRC.

    The Biblical Ministry Certificate consists of:

    1. Introduction to New Testament Study

    BIUS1150 This course is designed to provide a survey of the New Testament. The study consists of a brief overview of each book, including pertinent geographical and historical information.

    2. Introduction to Old Testament Study

    BIUS1110 This course is designed to provide a survey of the Old Testament. The study consists of a brief overview of each book, including pertinent geographical and historical information.

    3. Baptist Doctrine/Theology

    THUS1110 This course is designed to provide a survey of Christian doctrines with an emphasis on Baptist distinctives. The study consists of an examination of revelation, God, man, the person and work of Christ, he church, the Christian life, and the Christian hope.

    4. Hermeneutics

    BIUS11XX A course on how to study God’s Word.

    5. Apologetics

    THUS11XX This is a course on understanding the proof of Scriptures.

    6. Church History

    THUS11XX This course on church history is in development.

    7. Evangelism

    PMUS1110 This course is designed to provide a study of the biblical basis of evangelism, church programs for evangelism, and personal witnessing.

    8. Missions

    PMUS1117 This course on understanding the mission of the church is in development.
